“As a proud partner to the Global Standard, ACFID was pleased to participate in two recent virtual roundtables with international donors and civil society organisations.

As COVID-19 continues to exacerbate inequalities and challenge civic space, cooperation between a variety of actors to support a strong and vibrant civil society remains critical. ACFID welcomes ongoing discussions and efforts by DFAT and other donors to shift the power in development and humanitarian response towards local civil society organisations. This relies on a shared understanding and trust between all parties. Existing accountability frameworks, such as the Global Standard, can help to provide a strong foundation and a shared language for civil society, donors and communities to further these discussions.

ACFID is pleased to be collaborating with PIANGO to develop a regional framework for CSO accountability. Using the Global Standard as a reference, this framework will explore what a Pacific-driven model of effective and accountable civil society looks like.
