Belinda Bayak-Bush and Jen Blyth share CBM Australia´s work under SDG (The Sustainable Development Goal) 10.
“2020 has seen a catastrophic global failure to protect the lives, health and rights of people with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of lockdowns on people with disabilities has been severe. Many have been unable to access basic food or support and were often were denied basic and emergency healthcare, or even refused access to treatment for COVID-19.
At CBM Australia, we have supported our international partners to adapt their existing programs to ensure that people with disabilities are accessing social support, as they advocate to national governments for disability inclusive responses. Our advisory work – which influences mainstream development and humanitarian agencies to reach people with disabilities – has been targeted to focus on where we can have the biggest impact on COVID-19 responses, while also adapting our advisory methods to the new online world.”
